Grieving with Hope
A biblical perspective on grief and loss.
Christians grieve. We just do not grieve as those without hope. Both are true. Both belong in the same prayer.
Christians Grieve#
Paul did not tell the Thessalonians not to grieve. He told them not to grieve as those without hope. Both are true. Both belong in the same prayer.
Pretending we are fine does not honor God. Honest grief held inside His promises does.
Hope Is Not Denial#
Hope does not skip over the loss. It looks the loss full in the face and says, 'And still, He is good. And still, He will make it right. And still, this is not the end of the story.'
Resurrection hope is not a bandage on grief. It is the soil grief gets to grow in until it becomes something we could not have imagined.
Naming What You Lost#
Healing requires honesty. Name the person, the season, the dream, the version of yourself that did not survive. Give the loss its real weight before you ask God to carry it.
He can hold the whole of it. He is not afraid of your tears.
